Okay, so I went to the doctor on Friday and they, of course, weigh you. I hate that part. I think that's why I avoid going to the doctor when I can.

As a teenager, I was always depressed about my weight. I remember that once I thought, "If I ever reach 200 lbs, I WILL lose weight." So much for promises to yourself, huh? I passed that mark years ago.

But it's time to do something about it, if I can. Starting today, I've set about with new determination. Maybe it's starting today because I managed to get my ass out of bed early enough to do something. :)

Anyway -- I managed to walk for about 15 minutes today. My legs hurt after a bit, up along the shin bone. If not for that, I could have walked at a pretty fast pace. Anyone know what causes that, or how to make it stop?

Then I came home and did some crunches. I think tomorrow I'll try using the weight room instead. If they have a stationary bike or something, maybe I can do that instead of walking....

Y'all pray I manage to get up early enough to do this, every day. God knows my will power needs all the help it can get! :)

Congrats on getting started! I just went back to the gym for the first time in a few weeks and it was depressing. =P I love stationary bikes--I can read! If I can't read or talk to someone I get so bored and give up really quickly. Good luck!

Getting started is the hardest part.

If they have an elliptical machine, try that. It looks scary, but it really does a decent job without killing your knees like a stairmaster will.

Go you!

Ooh, I think I know this one! My legs would hurt either up along my shin or up through my heel if I didn't stretch enough before I walked a lot. Once I started stretching before I started that didn't happen anymore. Maybe that will help? :}

Go you! :) Stretching might help. But my theory is that mild aches mean that you were actually working muscles and should be treasured to a certain extent. But then, I'm weird that way.

That's generally my problem, too -- getting bored. I keep thinking, "I can be doing.....instead!"

Of course, reading helps!:)

It's a bone hurt, not a muscle one. Of course, I've had this problem forever and ever. Once, when I was 17, I did REALLY good for about a month. Went walking every day. And every day, even with stretching, I'd get that pain. It's been worse since the back surgery, tho.

I walked today. Tomorrow I'll have to remember to check out the fitness room instead. :)
